SMK Global Meet 2012

    Sourashtra Munettra Kazhagam (SMK) is an organisation started in 2011 with a view to attempt and scale greater heights in various fields including politics for sourashtra. It may be said men make their opportunity and that nobody gives them. Thus SMK is making its own opportunity in a constructive way of bettering the community by supporting the political party which has a chance to

 rule the State or centre.

     

     SMK in its very inception, as a first step extended its support to ADMK which was in a winning trend during last Assembly elections. The president of SMK Mr.V.G.Ramdoss and other office bearers who met Selvi J.Jayalalithaa at Thanjavur well before the Assembly elections conveyed support personally to her with a request to consider to field our community candidates in some constituencies on behalf of ADMK alliance. As this was our eleventh hour request, she could not consider favorably.

    

     ADMK which was supported by SMK won in a big majority as expected by SMK and political pundits. By supporting the winning party i.e., ADMK, the SMK tried to be in a good position of political power centre though SMK is not a political party. Sourashtrians from any political party can become a member of SMK, which believes that no community can become materially better off without ruling party’s support.

     From the very beginning the SMK welcomed whatever was considered good for the community and dedicated to serve our society. SMK invites youngsters 18 and above to become members and make SMK a powerful organization of Sourashtras.

     

     Global Sourashtra Meet is being organized by SMK at Madurai in the month of August 2012. The president and some of the office bearers visited Gujarat last March to invite the Chief Minister Hon’ble Narendra Modiji.They have requested the Chief Minister to inaugurate the conference and he is expected yo come over to Madurai to inaugurate the conference.

      

     At a meeting held at Madurai on 15-4-2012 to discuss about the arrangements of Global Sourashtra Meet, representatives of Sourashtra Sabhas and VIP’s from various places of Tamilnadu recorded their valuable suggestions for the success of the conference. The above meeting was organized by SMK. About 500 people have participated from morning to evening. On the basis of various suggestions made at the meeting SMK have decided to form various committees for the conference. It is proposed by SMK to represent the Government to include Sourashtra (Pattunool karar) in the Most Backward Class list as most of the community people are weavers who are facing difficulties to meet their basic needs from handloom weaving.
